Sonaca Aircraft at Aero Friedrichshafen
Sonaca Aircraft, as new European reference of general aviation, will be present at the Aero Friedrichshafen show which takes place from April 20th till 23rd 2016. The company will show the Sonaca 200. Being the first aircraft assembled in Belgium by Sonaca Aircraft, the two-seater stands out on the market of general aviation thanks to its stunning flight performances and characteristics, its reliability and reduced operational cost.
Starting from the users’ needs Sonaca Aircraft gambled on starting from the users’ needs. Pierre Van Wetter, Head of Sales and Marketing Soncaca Aircraft, details: "We approach pilot schools, aero clubs and private pilots all over Europe by offering them the opportunity to test the aircraft and revert to us with their feedback. This approach enables the adaptation of the aircraft in order to best meet market expectations".
Promising commercial launch
The sales launch of the Sonaca 200 bodes well for its future. "After two months of prospection in Western Europe, we sold 14 aircrafts and the order book fills up progressively. We aim at pursuing our approach of the European market by the end of the summer 2016", declares Pierre Wetter.
The 14 firm orders recorded by Sonaca Aircraft break down as follows:
- Belgium : Air Academy New CAG - 8 aircrafts
- France : Aeroclub Tissandier (Saint-Cyr-l'Ecole) - 2 aircrafts
- United-Kingdom : Flight Training London (Elstree) - 2 aircrafts
- Germany : FFL Flugschule am Flughafen Essen/Mülheim - 2 aircrafts
Sonaca Aircraft’s first client attests

About Sonaca Aircraft
Sonaca Aircraft is a new subsidiary of Sonaca. The company capital is owned by Sonaca, The Airplane Factory (TAF) and the co-founders of Sonaca Aircraft: Sophie Lancereau, Carl Mengdelh et Pierre Van Wetter.
Sonaca Aircraft combines the expertise and know-how of both companies: the engineering, certification and production from Sonaca’s side, the design and assembly from TAF’s side. Sonaca Aircraft’s primary objective is to develop, certify and commericalise a new two-seater aircraft specifically designed and adapted for training and leisure.
An initial prototype was assembled, in April 2015, at Johannesburg and brought to « Brussels South Charleroi Airport » after a journey of 8 days and more than 55 hours of flight time throughout Africa.
